PerthNow.com.au have run a great piece in which Sam says how generous the locals in the Margaret River area of WA have been in welcoming the actors and crew of the movie ‘Drift’.
“The locals have been really generous with allowing us to film here. I went to drama school with (producer and co-star) Myles Pollard and (director) Morgan O’Neill, so it’s great to be able to film with mates,” he said.
For the movie, Sam’s got some great dreadlocks, classic ’70s jumpers and thongs, the perfect look for the hippie surf photographer he plays in the movie.
Filming wraps up this week and producers hope it will appear at the Toronto Film Festival later this year.
DailyTelegraph.com.au and abc.net.au have each posted a photo of Sam on the Nannup set for the movie ‘Drift’. The abc.net.au article is well-worth a read: ‘Drift hoped to boost South West tourism’.
Access Hollywood interviews Sam in which he talks about ‘The Debt’, ‘Wrath Of The Titans’ and ‘Drift’:
The West Australian has posted a great article on Sam and the movie ‘Drift’.
Here’s a snippet for you, but you’ll have to follow the link to The West Australian if you want to read the rest:
The Rockingham-raised actor slipped into Margaret River this week to enjoy the town’s relaxed vibe before starting filming yesterday on 70s surf epic Drift in nearby Nannup.
Locals barely raised an eyebrow as the Avatar star – almost unrecognisable sporting a shaggy beard, sunglasses and thongs – enjoyed a beer at a local tavern on Tuesday and a quiet breakfast at a coffee shop yesterday.
Worthington, 35, said it was “absolutely nice” to be back in WA, which he said could not be compared with Los Angeles.
“One’s ridiculous and filled with lots of cars and traffic and one’s the most beautiful place on earth,” he said.
Worthington said his mates were what he missed most while living away.
He said he jumped at the chance to spend more time with good friend Myles Pollard, who is set to star in Drift. “I’ve known Myles for years and it’s great to work with friends . . . this is really his little baby,” he said.
Worthington plays a surf photographer and documentary maker who represents the “spirit” of surfing.
