Sam has today become an 'Angel Investor' in an Australian short film. He has put in $20,000 to help get the project off-the-ground.
The makers of the project, called 'Scratch' are using the crowd-funding platform Pozible to showcase their idea for the film which is described as:
'A warm, naturalistic film, a film that invokes what it is to be a kid – and the moment in all our lives when that reality starts to give way to something else… The painful, confusing and sometimes heart-sickening burdens of adulthood. All balanced against the choice confronting the boy’s mum. Some things never get easy – no matter how old you are.'
Scratch, which is written and produced by Rachael Turk, is based on her own family’s life experiences with child allergies.
Directed by Danielle Boesenberg, it is co-produced by Sam Meikle, writer on All Saints, Wild Boys, Crownies and Home and Away with Claudia Karvan cast in the lead role.
The project, which sat at $8,000 earlier today received the investment from Sam this afteroon, taking the film’s target beyond its $25,000 goal, to $28,331.
Being an 'Angel Investor' gives Sam an executive producer title on the film for providing over $10,000.
The film is budgeted at $60,000.
